Faversham Eye Funding Update

by Brian Pain

When we started the newspaper, we were determined to be truly independent and freely available to all in the Town and the surrounding settlements.

We have been amazed and grateful in equal measure for all the support and interest we have received – far more than we expected when we published Issue One at the start of this year.

However, a free paper with no advertising revenue and focused on a town with a population of about 20,000 (this month anyway) is hardly a great profit-making wheeze.

I will continue to fund the Eye as long as it remains of value in the fight for a democratic future for the Town, free of greedy individuals and companies that have, up to now, exploited Faversham for their own financial gain, regardless of the social and environmental cost. And we'll carry on promoting the many good things going on in the town while campaigning for improvements where necessary.

Many individuals have offered to help support us and we would certainly value their financial contributions.

Therefore, before the end of the year we will set up a not-for-profit Community Interest Company to process all donations and suggest that an annual subscription would be the simplest way to facilitate this and also allow one off donations.

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent in donations so far. We have recorded every one and will keep your money safe until we launch our subscription scheme.

We'll give full details in the next edition.
