At a recent Faversham Footpaths Group meeting, when discussing how to help fund the controversial proposed Faversham Reach footpath, it was decided that they would write to Cleve Hill Solar Park Limited for financial support.
This seems a bit like getting into bed with the enemy considering that Swale Borough Council is in a battle with Cleve Hill over the safety plan for the site and faces potentially damaging financial costs if they lose. Executive Committee Member of the Footpaths Group and current Faversham Town Councillor, Julian Saunders, was Cabinet Member for the Environment and then Environment Committee Chair at Swale Borough Council before stepping down last year.
Still, if Swale are obliged to pay Cleve Hill Ltd huge costs, it might enable the company to feel more generous towards such a begging letter.
