Loweworks
A welcome new arrival to Faversham is the Art Gallery called Loweworks at 39A the Mall.
The Here & Now / Here & Then is the first showing of Loweworks as a building and as an exhibition selection of old and new works. The oldest is from 1974 and the most recent from a few months ago.
The building provides a 5,000sq ft space. The first two rooms of the gallery are now finished having undergone a complete renovation. A large kitchen area has been installed to facilitate talks, dinners and openings to be held at the gallery.
Works are continuing on the other gallery spaces to allow for larger exhibitions.
The Lowe Limeworks
Jeff and Monica, his partner, live in the utterly staggering building called the Limeworks. Built in the 1930s this unique art deco inspired structure just outside the town was originally constructed to serve as a water purification plant consisting of two funnels separated by a central tower.
Sensitive remoulding has produced what is an exciting living space as well as a bold sculpture in its own right.
Jeff’s large sculptures form part of the contoured landscaped exterior where they are shown to good effect.
His workshops also sit comfortably around the main building.
