It is with great regret we report the recent death of a Faversham legend, Lena Reekie. She was well known in boating circles and was very active in the organisation of the Swale Match amongst many other events. Most notably, she largely single-handedly instigated the Faversham Nautical Festival now held annually on the Town Quay and enjoyed by thousands of local adults and children. It is no exaggeration to say that she was well liked by everyone who met her.
However, much of her time and energy was spent helping and sometimes looking after people who were experiencing hard times. Her extraordinary generosity will be long remembered by many people.
Faversham has lost an exceptional person and will be much the poorer for that.
