THE TOWN JETTY

The lower half of the Town jetty is now in a safe condition and shortly, the Faversham Creek Navigation Company will gently dredge along the front of the jetty.

This will enable preparations to be made for the repair of the upper part so as to allow full occupation again by suitable vessels.

The navigation company also intends to approach Swale with a view to allowing them to dredge and upgrade the Town Quay in order to encourage more boats to visit Faversham.

The Faversham and Oare Heritage Harbour Group meet on 3rd March. Their aim is to promote Faversham and Oare as active waterways for locals and visitors as well as, of course, campaigning for an opening bridge and functioning basin.

While long time observers of Creek matters may think that this is just yet another group which will just confuse matters further, their main function is to try and bring all other active groups together so that everyone concerned with Faversham Creek speak with one voice.

The Eye will report on their progress in the Summer.
