Faversham Open House (6th, 13th & 20th July) (see images in sub directory)
2019 marks the 50th year since Faversham - the medieval market town of Kings - first held its much loved Annual Open House event.
It was the first of its kind in England, and so well received that it became a template for the National Heritage Open Day Scheme.
Each Summer since, across three Saturdays in July, a number of the town’s most interesting, iconic and intriguing buildings and homes open their doors to the public. This is a great and rare opportunity to see these addresses from a different angle, by taking a look around inside and finding out more about their history and design. We are fortunate to have a number of wonderful properties taking part and a wide range of period features to see.
The 50th Open House is going to be the biggest yet, with over 50 properties confirmed to attend, so even if you've attended an Open House before, you'll still be able to see something new this year, and if you haven't attended before... you're in for even more of a discovery!
The 2019 Open House will be taking place on Saturdays 6th, 13th and 20th of July. Not all properties will be open each weekend but your entry costs cover you for all three weekends, so you can come back again and again!
Entry to all the houses is by a handbook (£9). For groups of up to 4 people, they can buy one handbook and other members of the group can buy an entry programme for £5 (a list of properties and opening times - no property descriptions). Handbooks will be on sale from the beginning of June at the Visitor Information Centre, Shepherd Neame Visitors Centre, the Shrine of St Judes in Tanners Street and the Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne (HRGS).
